Q: How do I contact Technical Support?
A: Call (801) 495-2200 from 8am to 5pm (MST) Monday - Friday or email Code
Tech Support at support@codecorp.com.
Q: How do I assemble the H2 Cabled Handle with a reader?
A: First, attach the cable to the handle by inserting the
cable's 8-pin DIN connector into the bottom of
the handle. An optional cable 'clip' can be used
to further secure the cable to the handle using
two threaded screws (see Figure 1). Next, insert
the flexible connector into the
back of the reader's 8-pin DIN connector and secure
it in place with two threaded screws (see Figure
2). Then 'snap' the reader to the handle utilizing
the battery compartment (see Figure 3). The reader
can be further secured to the handle with two threaded
screws (see Figure 4).

Q: How do I assemble the BH1 or BH2 Handle with a reader?
A: First, insert the tab on the back of the BH1 or BH2 handle into the
reader, using the slot where the battery would normally
lock into place (see Figure 5). Then
'snap' the reader to the handle utilizing
the battery compartment. Optionally, the reader
can be further secured to the handle with two
threaded screws (see Figure 6).

Q: How do I insert a battery (or battery blank) into a CR2 or CR3?
A: Insert the tab on the bottom of the battery (or blank) into the hole at the
bottom of the reader's battery compartment. (Figure 9) Slide the locking tab
on the back of the reader toward the top of the reader. Press the battery down
into the battery compartment while holding the locking tab open. (Figure 10)
Let go of the locking tab to lock the battery in place. (Figure 11)

Q: How do I turn the CR3 on?
A: Make sure a battery has been inserted
in the back of the reader or a cable has been connected for cabled readers. For
battery-operated
units, press and hold one of the red buttons
for AT LEAST ONE FULL SECOND. See Figure 12

| Figure 12 |
Q: How do I turn the CR3 off?
A: The CR3 will enter sleep mode after a set time. The length of time can be
configured by users. To wake the reader, press
and hold one of the red buttons for at least
one full second. See Figure 12.
To power the CR3 off, remove the power source - remove the cable for cabled units
or remove the battery if using a battery-operated
unit.
Q: How do I link a wireless CR2 or CR3 to another wireless device?
A: You will need to create a QuickConnect code at www.codecorp.com/bdaddr.php.
Create a QuickConnect code using the Bluetooth address (or BD_ADDR) that is printed
on the other wireless device. After creating the QuickConnect code, you will
need to print it out on paper and then scan it. The CR2 or CR3 will attempt to
connect to your Bluetooth device. When it successfully links to the Bluetooth
device, it will beep once. The CR2 (CR3) will attempt to connect for at least
30 seconds or more. If the CR2 or CR3 is not successful in connecting to the
other Bluetooth device, it will beep 3 times.
Q: How do I find a Bluetooth address (BD_ADDR)
of device so I can create a QuickConnect code?
A: Please click on the following link for detailed instructions:
find-bdaddr.html
Q: Is it possible to have several
bar code readers paired to the same CodeXML Bluetooth Modem to communicate
with just one PC host?
A: The CodeXML Bluetooth Modem can support
a large number of bar code readers with a single PC connection. The ‘receiving'
software application must be able to receive input from multiple readers. Each
reader will send a unique prefix or suffix to identify the incoming data. The
readers need to be configured for "Bluetooth Radio Auto Disconnect ON" which can be enabled by scanning code M066 found in the Appendix entitled "Programming Codes" (CR2 Appendix C and CR3 Appendix B).
Q: Is it possible to have multiple Bluetooth devices in close proximity without
causing interference with each other?
A: Bluetooth communications was designed to support many hundreds of devices
in very close proximity without disturbing each other. Further enhancements with
Bluetooth 1.2 and Adaptive Frequency Hopping make the communications even more
robust, while minimizing interference to co-located WiFi networks.
Q: How do I take images with the CR2 or CR3?
A: Go to www.codecorp.com/downloads.html and download "CodeXML Image Uploader". Follow the instructions in the downloaded file and install this update.
Q: The CR2 USB does not enumerate on Windows XP.
A: The CR2 USB enumeration issue shows up every so often on XP. The problem
is that XP is turning power off to the USB ports. To resolve this, open Device
Manager by following these steps:
1. Right click on the "My Computer" icon then select "Properties".
2. Select the "Hardware" tab then select "Device Manger". In the Device Manger expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the bottom of the list. You will find a number of USB Root Hubs in this list. You will need to open up the properties page for each Root Hub, click on the "Power Management" tab and uncheck the option "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Once you have done this to each USB Root Hub, close the Device Manager, then you should be able to connect the CR2 and use it with the system. Keep in mind that the first time you use a CR2 on your PC, the "Found New Hardware" Wizard may run. Follow the directions in the Wizard. Also, it may take up to 30 seconds for the CR2 to be registered with your system.
Q: I am using CodeXML Router and I cannot get my Bluetooth radio in the CR2 (or CR3) unit to connect.
A: Scan the "RF Two Way Mode" code from the manual. To get the latest version of the CR2 or CR3 manual, go to www.codecorp.com/manuals.html.
Q: I want to scan a laser etched code, a code printed on textile, or a code on other hard-to-read surface.
A: The best way to scan hard-to-read codes is to load the latest bootloader, firmware, and performance strings to your Reader and then try the CR2/CR3 optimization codes to see if any of them improves performance. To get the latest bootloader, firmware, and performance strings together with instructions and support software, go to www.codecorp.com/downloads.html and click on the "CR2 Firmware" link. The optimization codes are in the CR2 and CR3 manuals. To get the latest version of the CR2 or CR3 manual, go to www.codecorp.com/manuals.html. (For CR2 users: Go to "Chapter 3 - CR2 Programming: Optimizing the Reader for Your Environment", print it out, and test different settings to see if they improve reading performance.)
Q: Where can I find the latest bootloader and firmware?
A: Visit: www.codecorp.com/downloads.html.
Q: How do I turn Post Net on with my CR2 or CR3 reader?
A: Click here to download a .pdf file with a code that turns it on. Print out and scan the code. |
